Faire wholesale management: storefront, Faire Direct, and Promoted Listings
Faire can put your products in front of independent retailers you'd never reach alone, and it charges for
that. The skill is knowing which orders should cost 15% plus a fee and which should cost nothing — then
spending on Promoted Listings only where the reorder math works.
Faire charges North American brands 15% commission on marketplace orders, plus a one-time $10 fee on a new
retailer's first order. Reorders from those retailers stay at 15%.
Retailers you bring to Faire through your Faire Direct link, widget, invoicing tool or Faire email campaigns
qualify for 0% commission. Payment processing still applies: 1.9% to 3.5% plus $0.30, depending on how fast
you want to be paid.
Promoted Listings is Faire's pay-per-click ad product: you set a monthly budget and audience, Faire picks
placements, and your Faire Direct retailers aren't shown the ads.
We set up and run the storefront, wholesale pricing, Faire Direct outreach, ads, and the Shopify sync that
keeps inventory accurate.
Faire's fees and features change often; every figure here was checked against Faire's help center in October
2026.
Brands with existing stockists who have started ordering through Faire and may be paying marketplace
commission on accounts they already had.
Shopify brands that need wholesale inventory and orders in the same system as retail.
Brands spending on Promoted Listings without knowing what a retailer costs to acquire.
What's included
Storefront and catalog
Brand profile, story and photography that independent buyers actually respond to.
Wholesale and suggested retail pricing that leaves room for both your margin and theirs, with order minimums,
case packs and lead times set deliberately.
Product titles and descriptions written for buyers searching Faire, not copied from your retail site.
Line sheets and Faire Direct links for trade shows and sales reps.
Faire Direct program
A list of every retailer who has ordered from you or heard from you, matched against your Faire customers, then
a personal email with your Faire Direct link and a quarterly Faire Campaigns email so each one qualifies for 0%.
Where an existing stockist ordered through the marketplace first, we file the commission change request with the
documentation Faire accepts.
Promoted Listings management
Audience, budget, product exclusions and seasonal timing, judged on retailers acquired and their reorders.
Shopify and ERP sync
The Faire sales channel app configured for inventory, order and price sync, tested with a real order, and Faire
orders tagged so wholesale revenue stays separate downstream.
How we run a Faire account
Audit
Storefront, pricing, catalog, existing retailer list, and how much commission you've paid on accounts that
could have been Faire Direct.
Move existing accounts to Faire Direct
Personal outreach plus a quarterly Campaigns email so every known retailer qualifies for 0%.
Fix catalog and sync
SKUs, pricing, minimums and the Shopify connection, tested with a real order before it matters.
Test Promoted Listings
A defined budget and product set, evaluated on acquired retailers and expected reorders.
Monthly review
Commission paid versus avoided, reorder rate, ad cost per retailer, and inventory accuracy.
Common Faire mistakes
Long-standing stockists ordering through the marketplace, at 15%, because nobody sent them a Faire Direct
link.
No quarterly Campaigns email, so retailers fall out of automatic qualification.
Choosing next-day payouts by default, paying 3.5% when cash flow would allow the 1.9% 60-day option.
Promoted Listings spending on low-margin products that should have been excluded.
Inventory not synced, leading to accepted orders that can't ship.
Shopify retail prices pulled into Faire as wholesale prices.
Commission change requests backed by packing slips or order histories, which Faire doesn't accept as proof.

Retailers you brought; payment processing fee still applies
Every order also carries a payment processing fee, set by the payout speed you choose in Account Settings:
Faire calculates your payout as order subtotal plus shipping reimbursement, minus commission and processing. On
a $500 opening order with 30-day payouts, that's $75 commission, the $10 new customer fee and $12.30 processing.
The same order through Faire Direct costs only the $12.30.
The retailer signs up for Faire through your Faire Direct link or widget.
Their first order with you comes through your Faire Direct link, widget or invoicing tool.
You emailed them through Faire's Campaigns tool or in the Faire app in the three months before their first
order.
They scanned your Faire Direct QR code in the Faire app and ordered within 12 months.
Simply uploading a retailer to your customer list doesn't qualify them. If a known retailer's first order came
through the marketplace anyway, you can request a commission change, but the evidence rules are strict:
Relationship
Window before first Faire order
Evidence Faire accepts
Existing customer
Within 4 years
An invoice with date, invoice number, itemized products and the retailer's details as on Faire
Lead who replied
Within 12 months
Dated outreach showing your Faire Direct link and the retailer's written response
Lead with no reply
Within 3 months
Dated outreach showing your Faire Direct link and the retailer's details
Faire won't accept order histories, shipping labels, packing slips, payment receipts or order confirmation
emails for existing customers, so we keep proper invoices on file for every direct account. Retailers also have
a reason to say yes: Faire offers eligible retailers 60-day payment terms and free returns on first orders, and
retailers new to Faire who arrive through your link get a sign-up incentive and free shipping with you for a
year.
Promoted Listings: the mechanics that shape our setup
You pick new retailers only, or new and returning. Returning-retailer ads skip anyone acquired through ads in
the past year and anyone connected through Faire Direct.
Faire sets the bid per click from its predicted conversion rate, and charges once per click per ad impression,
so repeat clicks on the same listing in one session aren't billed again.
The monthly budget is spread across the month, budget changes take effect the next day, and an optional
flexible budget raises the cap in high-demand months.
Every available product is eligible by default; individual products can be excluded in product settings.
It runs in the US and Canada, with Europe in beta for selected brands. On the
performance page, Faire recommends running at least a month before judging results.
A retailer counts as acquired if they order within two weeks of a click, so final numbers for a month can take
up to six weeks. Faire reports First-Year ROAS alongside first-order sales, and that's the figure we judge on.
How we run it: exclude products whose wholesale margin can't carry a 15% commission plus acquisition cost, judge
acquired retailers on expected reorders rather than the first order alone, and time budget to the buying seasons
for your category.
Shopify and ERP sync details
Faire's
Shopify integration
runs through the "Faire: Sell Wholesale" sales channel app. A few details from Faire's documentation shape our
setup:
Automatic product matching only works on an exact, unique SKU match; anything else has to be linked by hand
(Faire).
Inventory is pulled from the Shopify locations you choose, and Shopify only deducts stock for Faire orders
when both inventory sync and order sync are on (Faire).
Price sync only covers Faire-supported currencies; other currencies need manual prices.
Only one Shopify store can connect to one Faire account at a time.
During setup you choose whether Faire pulls Shopify's wholesale or retail price (Faire). Getting this wrong is the fastest way to list at the wrong price.
If you run an ERP, Faire orders reach it through Shopify. We tag Faire orders in Shopify — the order sync
settings support custom tags — so wholesale revenue stays separable when Odoo or your accounting system pulls
those orders. More on that on our ERP page.
Retailer-ready checklist
A GS1-licensed barcode on every sellable unit, and a separate one on case packs if you sell by the case.
Wholesale price, suggested retail, minimums and case quantities consistent across Faire, Shopify and line
sheets.
Children's Product Certificates or General Certificates of Conformity ready for regulated products, under the
CPSC's
certificate rule.
"Made in USA" claims only where they meet the FTC's
labeling rule.
Lead times you can actually hit in your busiest month.
Pricing and engagement
A setup project followed by a flat monthly fee rather than a percentage of wholesale revenue —
Faire already takes one percentage, and you don't need a second. Per our pricing page,
nothing we do is billed as a percentage, and nothing locks you in. Any Promoted Listings spend is billed by
Faire directly.
Platforms we work in
Faire plus the systems wholesale orders flow into.
There's no Faire case study on this site yet. The closest published work is Squeaky Clean Turf, where we rebuilt
a product line sold both retail and wholesale in Shopify with the two channels separated, a dedicated wholesale
page on the new site, and every order wired into the CRM. Faire management uses the same catalog, pricing and
integration discipline.
For North American brands, 15% commission on marketplace orders plus a one-time $10 fee on a retailer's first
marketplace order, and 15% on reorders from those retailers. Qualified Faire Direct orders carry 0%
commission. A payment processing fee of 1.9% to 3.5% plus $0.30 applies to all orders, depending on payout
speed.
How do I get 0% commission on Faire?
Bring the retailer through your Faire Direct link, widget or invoicing tool, email them through Faire's
Campaigns tool within three months before their first order, or have them scan your Faire Direct QR code.
Adding them to your customer list alone isn't enough.
A stockist I already had ordered through the marketplace. Can I get the commission back?
Often, yes, through a commission change request. For a customer who ordered from you before Faire, you need a
proper invoice from within the past four years; order histories, packing slips and receipts aren't accepted.
Are Faire Promoted Listings worth it?
They can be for products with enough wholesale margin to absorb the 15% commission plus ad cost, especially
when acquired retailers reorder. We test with a fixed budget and judge on retailers acquired and expected
reorders, not first-order ROAS alone.
Does Faire sync with Shopify?
Yes, through the Faire: Sell Wholesale sales channel app: catalog import, inventory and price sync from
Shopify, and order sync into Shopify once you accept a Faire order. Products link automatically only on an
exact, unique SKU match.
Will Faire orders throw off my retail inventory?
Not if both inventory sync and order sync are on and products are linked. Then Shopify deducts stock for Faire
orders automatically. We test this with a real order during setup.
Do you take a percentage of my wholesale sales?
No. We charge a setup fee and a flat monthly fee.
